Wouldn’t it be nice to have floors that are durable, attractive, low-cost and low-maintenance? You can have it all with laminate flooring. Like carpet, it’s cost-effective and easy to install. Like hardwood or treated concrete, laminate flooring looks great, year after year. It’s especially nice for families with small children. Today’s flooring for today’s HDB houses is better than ever. You can choose from lots of different styles and colors. You may prefer traditional styles, like tile in the bathroom and kitchen and wood in the living room and bedroom. You can also mix it up, and make your own personal style statement.
Unless you have a model home to look at, it can be hard to imagine how much laminate flooring can change a room’s look. Since your floors are what people see the most, they’ll totally transform your space. To make sure that transformation is for the better, have a look at some of the best colors that are available:
· Dark Brown:
You almost can’t go wrong with dark brown. When we say “dark brown”, we mean something almost like milk chocolate. It’s a very safe color that will match just about any room décor. It shows very little dirt and, like all laminate floors, it’s easy to clean. That low-maintenance feature is a big plus. You may also appreciate the warm and inviting feeling that dark wood provides.
Be sure you decorate with lots of earth tones, mostly greens and blues. Use area rugs that have bright colors, like yellow and pink. Brown can make a room look dark, so you’ll need to lighten it up. Consider adding an extra floor lamp, or maybe two. You’ll especially need the additional light if it’s really cloudy or dark outside.
· Light Brown:
Why do we talk about brown twice? Dark brown and light brown are two very different colors. With a lighter brown, you can use darker shades as you add furniture, even black and navy blue. Make sure the color scheme in your furniture matches your rugs. Try to avoid yellows and pinks, because it creates too much visual confusion and makes your room look messy. With this color, you can also add extras to the room, like crown molding. Guests will notice these things much more readily in a lighter room.
· Light Grey:
This is getting to be a very popular shade of laminate flooring, especially in interior rooms with few windows. You may prefer a lighter grey that almost an off-white color, particularly if your walls aren’t white. White walls and white floors may be a bit too much!
Light grey is a nice color in bathrooms and kitchens, because there’s little natural light and there’s little white on the walls. Use dark colors in your decorating: wrought iron is a good choice here. Add lots of houseplants and indoor trees as well. If you have light grey laminate floor in a hallway or transitional space, rotate colorful fresh or artificial flowers on a table or small bookshelf.
· Dark Grey:
Think treated concrete or wet cement. These laminate floors give your space a very modern and classy look. So, when you decorate, think modern! Use lots of geometric shapes with sharp angles in a room with dark grey laminate floors. The more squares, rectangles and triangles, the better! Your space may be a bit dark, so consider adding a skylight or track lighting. These things lighten up the room without being overly bright.
· Alabaster:
Novelty and off-the-wall colors are usually not good for a large space, because you’ll get sick of the shade. Alabaster is one of the exceptions. This unique and fun laminate floor is somewhere in between grey and brown, yet it also has a distinct pinkish hue. It’ll look great in most any room in your house. It’s bright but not overly reflective, and warm but not too dark. If you’re looking for a color that will make a statement yet not be too extreme, alabaster laminate floors may be the answer.
There are lots of other styles available. These floors are pretty easy to install yourself, or you can call a contractor who can probably do every room in your house in as little as one or two days. Upgrade your space today with colorful laminate floors!
